George G.A. Pujalte, M.D., F.A.C.S.M., is a sports medicine physician and researcher, board-certified in both Sports Medicine and Family Medicine. Dr. Pujalte focuses on treating chronic and acute illnesses and injuries in athletes and active individuals, educating them on prevention, and collaborating with them in terms of “return to play” decisions after these conditions.

Dr. Pujalte’s clinical interests include:

  • The nonsurgical treatment of acute injuries such as ankle sprains, muscle strains, knee and shoulder injuries
  • Overuse injuries such as rotator cuff, and other forms of, tendonopathies and stress fractures, and medical/injection therapies for osteoarthritis
  • Sports-related and general medical needs of athletes, as well as educating/counseling them on illness and injury prevention

In addition to his clinical activities, Dr. Pujalte is active in the education of college and medical students, residents, and fellows, as well as furthering research in Sports Medicine and Family Medicine. Dr. Pujalte has a personal interest in martial arts and sports psychology. He has worked as team physician for USA combat sports team and travels with different national sports teams for events and competitions both in the US and internationally. He has written and presented numerous times on topics depicting the interaction of mental health and physical activity.

Wesley Troyer, D.O.

Wesley Troyer, D.O.

Dr. Wesley Troyer is a fellowship-trained, board-certified specialist in Sports Medicine, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and Musculoskeletal Ultrasound (RMSK). He completed residency training at the University of Kentucky, where he served as chief resident during his final year. Following residency, he completed an ACGME accredited Sports Medicine fellowship at Emory in Atlanta, GA. During his time in Atlanta, he served as team physician for athletes at Emory University, Decatur High School, as well as assisted with the Atlanta Hawks and Atlanta Falcons. He has worked with high level athletes with USA Track and Field at the Olympic Marathon Trials, as well as, medical coverage at several other marathons and long distance events.

As a non-operative orthopedic and sports medicine specialist, Dr. Troyer has a specific interest in the treatment of musculoskeletal sports-related injuries, soccer medicine, injury specific rehabilitation and return to play, utilization of ultrasound for the diagnosis of injuries and guided injections/procedures. He enjoys working with athletes of all levels, from high school to the elite athlete, to get them back on the field and doing what they love.

When he is not at work, Dr. Troyer enjoys playing soccer and running with his fiancée in Neptune Beach.

Daniel Montero, M.D.

Dr. Montero first practiced both sports medicine and primary care in his native Virginia before returning to Mayo Clinic Florida. He has worked with athletes of all ages and skill levels, including amateurs and professionals; college and Olympic. Dr. Montero currently serves as a Consultant in both the Department of Orthopedics and Family Medicine and works in the Department of Orthopedics at Mayo Clinic Florida. He teaches both residents and fellows musculoskeletal medicine and communication skills in healthcare.
